Can’t be bothered with this right now

I’ve got neither the time nor the passion to dedicate to this site now, so it’s going into hibernation for an extended period.

I’m generally feeling jaded regards many things in life, in particular football, and really can’t bothered to write about it here.

This isn’t just a response to the Newcastle defeat today, it’s just a general reaction to the almost endless fucking football there’s been over the last three years. Fuck knows how the players must feel, but I myself can’t wait for the summer and a break from football. Which is why I’m starting mine now. From Euro 2004 to the Champions League win to the 1st CL qualifying rounds to the World Cup to now, I really can’t take any more fucking football. All football seems to be these days is one billionaire taking over a club after another. It was alright when Chelski and Man Ure were the only ones but everyone’s fucking at it. Pompey, Villa, Man City; all football is these days is a billionaires plaything and I’m sick to the back teeth of it. Even we can’t take the moral high ground any more when it comes to this, having sold our “franchise” to the Yanks. Who will no doubt make complete arses of themselves by saying that Dixie Dean was one of our greatest ever players and generally looking and acting like ill informed, out of place plebs. Like most Americans then.

You see, this is how jaded I am right now. Instead of seeing the takeover as arguably the deal that secure our clubs future, I’m seeing the takeover as nothing more than a business deal, a cash injection, a short to medium term investment scheme with decent returns within five to ten years. Cynical? Yes, Cause that sure as hell is what the Yanks are looking at it as, regardless of how much “goodwill” they pile on now.

Added to that the fact that for, arguably, the first time in my life, there are other things in my life that are more important than football and, as I mentioned above, I really don’t have the inclination to waste time writing about it here. To paraphrase the famous line from Gone With The Wind, Frankly my dear, I couldn’t give a flying fuck.

So for the time being, Good Night and Good Luck.
