So, England are finally out of the World Cup. And it was the one player who we all thought would help us lift the trophy that was ultimately responsible for making sure we went home early.

I must admit I do feel quite sad for the players; not just for Stevie but in particular for Carra as well. He was bought on, presumably, as a penalty specialist and it must hurt like hell that his was the last penalty that was saved. In fact it must be an odd feeling for Stevie and Carra as I’m sure they’re not used to being on the losing side of a penalty shootout. Might need to check on that but am fairly sure they haven’t been. Until now, obviously.
